This morning, we had a yummy egg bake for breakfast, then opened our gifts from each other. This year, we got the kids something they want, something they need, something to wear and something to read. They each got each other a small gift as well. We had them open their gifts in backwards order, so they had to wait for their "want" until last. They loved all of their presents and were even excited for their socks! I just love the pure joy on their faces when they open a gift.
We also made and decorated cookies for Santa. They loved this project!
This afternoon, we got ready for church. Madelyn went early with me to practice the song I was singing with Brandon's aunts and cousins. She stood so nice while we sang! After a few negotiations, Jackson decided to wear his sweater rather than his suit. Apparently, we cannot wear wedding clothes to church. That's what I was told anyway :)
After church, we went over to Brandon's aunt's home for Christmas Eve dinner. The kids had a lot of fun playing with their 2nd cousins! They have so much fun when they get together. We just got home about 11pm, but surprisingly, the kids were still in good moods and handled themselves very well! They exchanged gifts with their cousins and both enjoyed their gift.
When we got home, the kids gave Elfie a big hug. We are going to miss that little guy! He has been so much fun to have around. Jackson said, "Tomorrow I'm going to be happy because Santa came, but sad because Elfie is gone." It was so cute how gentle they were with him. They both said they loved him and Jackson even gave him a kiss.
We also laid out our cookies & milk for Santa and Jackson laid out 8 carrots for the reindeer.
When we tucked the kids in, we read our last day in our Advent book. We read about Jesus' birth and talked about what a wonderful gift it was. We prayed the prayer together, then said goodnight. Tomorrow will be another fun day!
See you next year Elfie! Thank you for making mornings so fun and for all of your surprises. We can't wait to see you again next year :)
Merry Christmas, everyone!
