Our final rehearsal this morning went well, especially considering that both main characters were gone! Unfortunately my lead girl was up all night with the flu, so we needed to find someone to replace her. The actual performance went better than any rehearsal (it always does, right?!) and all of the kids did a fantastic job! I am so proud of all the kids, but also very glad it is over :) Brandon videotaped parts of the program, but I don't have any pictures to share yet. I'm hoping to update this page if I receive some pictures.
At lunch today, we read in our Advent book because we knew we would be eating supper at church. We read about Jesus being a priceless gift. The activity was a question: What makes Jesus our priceless gift from God. Jackson answered right away, "Because he is God's son." I asked him if we could go to a store and buy a Jesus. He, of course, said, "no!" Then I said, what if we had more money than anyone else in the world, do you think God would give us Jesus? Again he answered no. I wanted to make sure he understood what priceless meant and that Jesus was a gift that no amount of money can buy. In the prayer, it said, "No one but Your own Son could have shown us what You are really like." That indeed, is a priceless gift like no other!
Brandon got a text from a friend that said his mom saw our names in the paper today. Then, I remembered that a few weeks ago, a reporter asked for pictures of what people's elves have been up to, so I sent her the link to my blog. She asked if she could use some pictures for her article. Here is the link to the article: Elfing Around. She used two pictures and they are right in the middle. One is of Elfie playing Candy Land with stuffed animals and the other is when Elfie put mustaches on our family picture. She also put the link to my blog at the end of the article. He's famous!
