Adventures of Elfie: Day 15

Jackson came in our room this morning and said, "I can't find Elfie anywhere!" He wasn't downstairs or in the playroom where he was yesterday. After searching with Madelyn upstairs, he asked us to go down with him to find Elfie. Madelyn helped Brandon get the juice out, and I heard, "Look! Elfie is in the fridge!"

Our Advent calendar activity for today was to help make Christmas cookies. We went over to my parents' house and met my sister, grandma, mom and dad there. We made peanut butter cup cookies, peanut blossoms, chocolate and peanut butter covered pretzels, ginger snaps, spritz cookies, toffee bars, 7 layer bars and peanut butter balls.

The kids were so good at rolling the dough balls in sugar! Madelyn taught us that the dough balls don't have to be round to make perfect cookies. Here is a picture of the pan Madelyn helped with. To our surprise, they turned out just like pan with round balls!

At supper tonight, we read about the Word of God being the lamp to our feet. It reminded us of the song "Thy Word" that I taught the kids in Sunday School earlier this year, so the kids and I sang the chorus together. The activity was to point a flashlight in front while walking and notice how it lights the way. We should have read this yesterday when we played hide and seek with flashlights. Oh well...the kids were excited to get the flashlights out again! Below is a picture of the kids in the dark with their flashlights. Jackson also wanted to take a family picture tonight, so we turned the lights on and took a family selfie!

Tomorrow we are having Christmas program practice at our church in the morning, then going to Davenport for their Christmas program in the afternoon. It should be a fun day filled with Christmas music!
