Adventures of Elfie: Day 22

Elfie must have been playing dress up last night. This morning, he was on the counter in Madelyn's baby car seat dressed in baby clothes. Madelyn thought it was hilarious!

We had our big Sunday school Christmas program rehearsal with all preschool-5th grade students this morning. I'm pleased with how it went. We have one more rehearsal during Sunday school tomorrow, then perform tomorrow evening. I've learned that putting together a Sunday school Christmas program is much more challenging than a program at school! However, I have an awesome group of kids that are hard workers and good singers :)

At supper, we read about heavenly blessings and what a great gift God gave us when he gave us Jesus. The question was to think of our treasures, both earthly and heavenly. We each shared our heavenly gifts and decided that our gifts from God are our family, our very own angel (Kailyn) and the sun. Our earthly treasures were toys, wedding rings and my necklace with both kids' birthstones and an angel wing. We also talked about what was more important and all agreed that our heavenly gifts from God were the most important of all.

Our Advent calendar activity for today was to have a family Christmas movie night. This week has been a stressful and busy week for me. Brandon was out late last night celebrating the birthday of a friend. So, we decided to stay home and go to bed early. After supper, the kids got their jammies on and we watched Polar Express, complete with hot chocolate. They loved it!  It was so wonderful to have some downtime together as a family.

During the movie, my sister text me that her husband's grandpa had passed away. He and his grandpa had a special bond and I know he will be greatly missed. During prayers tonight, we prayed for him and his family, asking God to be with all of them and to help them remember that he is up in heaven with God. If you're reading this and have a minute, say a prayer for comfort and peace for the family.
